Best Cafes in Boston 2020

Welcome to My Cafe Blog in Boston 2020

  1. Jaho

Feb 17.

Jaho is a cafe situated in the middle of Chinatown. It is very easy for traveling since it is just two minutes walk from the orange line train station. I had the chance to interview with the owner, of the cafe, Michael and he told me that the cafe’s design had the aim of creating a soft and comfy environment and minimal by using soft colors such as light wooden brown color and black. The design was based on the neighborhood and apartments near by which had many Asian people since it is situated in Chinatown. Therefore the design was minimal Japanese and Swedish style since the owner himself wants this design.

However, each of the location would have different styles so it give a different feeling for the customers. The cafe has been opened for four years and a half and is very successful. The best selling drinks would be the Espresso coffee since they brew the coffee themselves the flavor would be very unique. Also, the cafe provides alcohol drink menus as well as food menu such as sandwiches or bagels and salads. The most bestselling food menu would be the breakfast sandwich. The cafe is unique because it is the one of the rare cafes that have the pairing of alcohol drinks and coffee. All branches have the same opening hours form 8am-11pm Monday through Sunday. Finally, most people that come in the cafe would be undergraduate up until working people in order to do their work, talk business issues, friends gathering, drinking before going to the movies or clubbing and talking about start up plans as the owner told in the interview.

2. Explorateur:

Explorateur is also another cafe near the Chinatown area but it is located 168 Tremont street. The cafe would be open for coffee and food Monday to Sunday 7:30am to 5:30pm then after that it would all be cleared for dinner seats only. For the bars, it would be open from 5pm onwards for seatings. The cafe is decorated with hanging light bulbs and simple wooden brown color walls. It gives a sort of vintage feeling mixed with modern style. The cafe has been opened for over five years and is very busy during dinner times. The best selling drink menu would be the Latte coffee since it is the most popular since the start when the cafe opened up. The most ordered food dishes would vary between sandwiches, spaghetti and egg benedict.

Most people that would come here will mostly do school work or their office work and some would come to hangout with their friends after work or during their lunch breaks since there are plenty of offices nearby the cafe. The cafe is considered big since it has the upper level and it is very spacious since the ceiling is very high.

3. George Howell:

George Howell is a small size cafe situated right in downtown crossing area(505 Washington street.) The cafe is very well known for the quality of the coffee since it got the best cafe in Boston award. The bakeries are not much diverse to choose from but the taste is delicious. The cafe is connected to the hotel, therefore if the seating area is full. Most customers would go and sit at the lobby of the hotel.

The most famous beverage would be the espresso and the latte since it was their first signature coffees. The cafe is decorated very minimally since the space is small not much decoration is added. The theme of the cafe is wooden brown and the beauty of the cafe is their cups which is reuse able and also designed uniquely. The types of people here would mostly be office workers rather than college students since most business people would come here more often compared to the college students during weekdays.

4. Tatte:

Tatte which is in summer st. There are over 3 branches. The cafe is very big and the theme is all white. The cafe has both various food and beverages. My personal favorite is the chakchukka and the chicken salad. For the beverages would be matcha latte and americano. The texture of the matcha latte is very thin but good quality. Most people who come would be working people on their breaks, college students, friends hanging out and family hang out.

Tatte is very well known because of its brand loyalty as well as word of mouth since it has over four branches in Boston. I personally like this cafe since it offers delicious dishes and by far the most spacious. Their open hours is 7am-8pm from Monday through Sunday. However, this cafe is constantly busy and would be one of the most nosiest cafes in that area.

5. Coco leaf:

Coco leaf cafe is situated on 303 Newbury street, open from 9am until 9pm. It is sort of a hidden cafe since it is in the basement by taking the small stairs down to the cafe. The cafe is owned by a Vietnamese owner and the design of the cafe is very green and gives a feeling of forest and green leaves. This gives customers the sort of environmentally feeling especially since the cafe’s cups for drinks is decorated in green color as well as the walls of the cafe. The most popular drinks at this cafe varies since there are various of choices that are different in their own ways. There are drinks such as coconut smoothie with glass jelly or other toppings that customers can choose from. There are over eight toppings and most of them are from Vietnamese and Thailand therefore it would be very traditional toppings.

Moreover, the types of people visiting this cafe would be mostly tourist and also students such as high school and college students. This is because the cafe is slightly small and the type of drinks would be more popular amongst these types of target customers because of the sweetness of the drinks as well as the location. My favorite drink would be just the plain coconut smoothie and with glass jelly topping since I enjoy the strong coconut flavor as well as the softness of the glass jelly that goes well with the iced drink.

6. Blue Bottle:

Blue bottle is a very minimal cafe just like some other cafes in Boston and has two branches. The one in the prudential center was the first one and then the one in Newbury was the following one. The cafe has its own unique logo that most people remember which is a black background and a blue bottle in the middle. The one in prudential center is bigger than the latter one but still not big enough to have available seats to fill people since it is very popular in terms of their signature drip coffee.

Most people who come here are office workers from the prudential building and are on their lunch or short break and would come to grab coffee and talk with their co workers. I feel that the surroundings is very busy but the Hojicha is very delicious and give a very aroma smell.
